How dual pricing works: If a buyer hits Buy Now, the auction closes and current bidders receive an automatic notification with the option to top the Buy-Now price next time. The seller of this lot has chosen to keep Buy Now active throughout — some lots disable Buy Now after the first bid (you'll see "Buy Now closed" on the card).
Solid rosewood case, professionally restored 2024
Original 8-day mechanical movement, recently serviced
A vintage cylindrical shipping container, often referred to as a fibre drum or tall hat box, dating likely from the mid-20th century (circa 1950s–1970s). It is constructed from pressed fibreboard (industrial cardboard) with reinforced wooden base and lid, both stapled in place for strength.
The outer surface shows authentic patina from age and transport use, featuring remnants of old shipping labels, customs markings, and “Do Not Crush†labels  details that now add character and collectible appeal. These drums were historically used for overseas shipping of textiles, documents, and delicate items such as hats, uniforms, or instruments, particularly before the widespread use of plastic and metal containers.
It is hollow inside with smooth inner fibre lining, making it light yet structurally durable  suitable for repurposing as a decorative storage cylinder, vintage umbrella stand, side table base, or shop display prop.
