How dual pricing works: If a buyer hits Buy Now, the auction closes and current bidders receive an automatic notification with the option to top the Buy-Now price next time. The seller of this lot has chosen to keep Buy Now active throughout — some lots disable Buy Now after the first bid (you'll see "Buy Now closed" on the card).
Solid rosewood case, professionally restored 2024
Original 8-day mechanical movement, recently serviced
A traditional hand-carved African wooden folding chair, intricately detailed with symbolic motifs and figurative carvings. The backrest features two stylised human figures flanking a central circular motif, possibly representing unity or ancestral guardianship. Below this, a combination of geometric and interwoven patterns are carved in relief, showcasing the artisan’s craftsmanship and symbolic storytelling.
The seat and back panels are formed from two interlocking pieces, allowing the chair to fold flat for portability  a design often associated with tribal elders’ chairs used in ceremonial or community gatherings across regions such as Ghana, the Congo, or East Africa. The natural patina and hand-tooled finish enhance its authenticity and tactile appeal.
This piece serves equally well as a decorative statement, collector’s item, or functional accent chair in a curated interior.
